People often misuse the term notary, and those terms associated with it.floridahandbook Notaries actually do not notarize anything. It is a common misconception, and a common term thrown around, but notarizing a form is not actually what you do; though, there is nothing wrong with the term, notarizing does not encompass the entire act. You perform a notarial act; an oath or an affirmation is given or an affirmation is taken from the signer. The statement completed by you when you perform a notarial act is called a “certificate;” this includes everything except the oath or affirmation. When the act is an oath or affirmation it becomes a “jurat.” If you have any questions about what acts you can or will perform once you become a notary public, please do not hesitant to contact us! Notary Public Underwriter’s (NPU) customer care team would be more than happy to answer any of your questions. If you want to become more familiar with notary terms, you can purchase a Florida Notary Handbook today for merely ten dollars!  Visit us at www.notarypublicflorida.com to see what else we have to offer!
